Villa Abbamer is a Country House that combines the atmosphere of a “hôtel de charme” and the liveliness of an active cultural association. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century, and is surrounded by a beautiful garden shaded by tall trees, with outdoor lounges and a parking area. Its spacious and comfortable entrance hall and living room frequently host concerts and events organized by the Villa Abbamer Cultural Association. The harmony that has imbued Villa Abbamer for over a hundred years captivates guests as soon as they arrive, welcoming them with care and comfort, and making them feel as if they were visiting old friends.
of the six guest bedrooms (two are suites) is different from the others. Each has its own bathroom, phone, free wi-fi, flat screen tv and air conditioning.
Guests are welcome to relax in the spacious living room and enjoy the hosts’ large CD and dvd collection, as well as Netflix services.
In its dining room, Villa Abbamer serves dishes inspired by the traditional cuisines of Rome and Sicily.
Responding to an ever-more frequent need, the restaurant is gluten-free, as certified by the Italian Celiac Association (AiC).
Abbamer is located on the outskirts of Grottaferrata, and is only:
- 11 km (20 min) from the Anagnina stop of the Rome subway
- 2 km (5 min) from the Frascati train station; the train ride to the center of Rome (Termini Station) takes 30 minutes.
- 10 km (15 min) from the Ciampino Airport
- 40 km (40 min) from the Fiumicino Airport
- 6 km (10 min) from the Monte Porzio Catone exit on the Autostrada A1 thruway.
Abbamer is in the Alban Hills, where most of the towns are older than Rome. Over the span of some twenty centuries, renowned historical figures built luxurious residences here.
At a stone’s throw from Villa Abbamer are the ruins of the ancient city of Tusculum, the Byzantine Abbey of St. Nilus (founded in 1004) and the town of Frascati.
The whole area is dotted with Renaissance and Baroque villas built by Roman nobles and cardinals. The towns of Castel Gandolfo, Ariccia, Albano, Genzano, Nemi, Rocca di Papa and Marino are close by.
Villa Abbamer is the perfect place to stay if you wish to visit the Eternal City and at the same time enjoy living in the Roman countryside, far from the clamor of the city. It is only about 20 km south from the center of Rome, in the Alban Hills. The climate here is very pleasant, especially in the summer.
Abbamer is located on the edge of the Castelli Romani Regional Park, where nature and history blend together.
